TERRITORIAL JURISDICTION

The Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Shanghai accepts applications for Schengen visas, long-term visas, and long-term residence permits from citizens of China and from long-term/permanent residents of China residing in the following administrative areas:

  • Shanghai Municipality
  • Anhui Province
  • Jiangsu Province
  • Zhejiang Province

(Other Chinese provinces fall under the jurisdiction of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Beijing)

Chinese citizens require a visa for both short-term stays (up to 90 days) and long-term stays (over 90 days) in the Czech Republic / Schengen Area. Holders of diplomatic passports of the PRC do not require a visa for short-term, non-remunerated stays.

Applicants who are residents of China but not Chinese citizens may apply for a long-term visa or residence permit at the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Shanghai only if they have legally resided in China for at least 2 years. A copy of the residence permit must be submitted when requesting an appointment. If this condition is not met, the application must be submitted in the applicant’s country of origin. Countries whose citizens are exempt from this requirement are listed on the relevant official website.

For Schengen visa applications submitted in China, a harmonised list of supporting documents applies.
