Czech in Hangzhou: The Third Annual Student Language Competition

The Consul General of the Czech Republic in Shanghai, Mr. Karel Šrol, opened the third edition of the Czech language competition in Hangzhou with an introductory speech and also served as a member of the jury.

The Czech language competition was organized in cooperation with the Consulate General of the Czech Republic, Zhejiang International Studies University in Hangzhou, and Zhejiang Yuexiu University of Foreign Languages – both institutions offering Czech language programs.

Thirteen Chinese students from the two universities, accompanied by their Czech lecturers, presented personal stories on the topic of how learning Czech has changed their lives. Despite the relatively short period of their Czech language studies, the level of most participants was very good, as confirmed by the jury.

In his opening remarks, the Consul General highlighted the importance of studying Czech and acknowledged the valuable work of Czech lecturers who contribute to the teaching and promotion of the Czech language in the region.

The Consulate General of the Czech Republic welcomes this cooperation with Chinese universities and supports the continued development of Czech language education in China.
