SCHENGEN VISA

The receipt of Schengen visa applications is being outsourced to the VFS Global visa centers in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang. The appointments can be made via the visa center website.

The following applicants submit their visa applications at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Hanoi:

1. family members of EU citizens
2. holders of official passports
3. members of official delegations
4. applicants travelling for urgent humanitarian reasons.

These categories of applicants can however still choose to submit their applications in visa centers. To apply for a Schengen visa directly at the Embassy, schedule an appointment: Hanoi.Consulate@mzv.gov.cz.

Large-scale events

If organizing or participating in a large-scale event in Czechia – such as an international sport event, congress, conference and other – for a large group of participants with visa obligation, do contact us sufficiently in advance.

To process these applications smoothly and in time, we ask for your cooperation in observing these organizational rules:

1. inform us at least 2-3 months prior to the event – preferably earlier and certainly not later
2. provide a more or less finalized list of participants
3. prepare a uniform itinerary for all participants – common arrival and departure date, no additional unrelated deviations from the uniform itinerary (for example without additional travel in the Schengen by some members of the group only)
4. appoint a contact person who will communicate with the consulate on behalf of participants

Due to other workload and the need to effectively plan and organize our work, large group applications may only be processed in time when granting this necessary cooperation.

 

LONG-TERM VISA / LONG-TERM RESIDENCE PERMIT / PERMANENT RESIDENCE PERMIT

According to the purpose of stay in the Czech Republic:

3. Scientific Research, Cultural, Sport, Health or Other Purposes
4. Studies
5. Language and Professional Preparation for Studies of a University Accredited Study Programme and Other Educational Activities

Applicants who are residents, but not citizens, in Vietnam can apply for a long-term visa / residence permit at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Hanoi only if they have resided in Vietnam for at least the past two years. When registering your appointment, do attach a copy of your residence permit. If you do not fulfil this condition, do file your application in your home country. Countries whose citizens are exempt from this rule are listed here.

Based on Regulation of the Government of the Czech Republic No. 220/2019 Coll., dated August 26, 2019, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Hanoi does not accept applications for long-term visas for business purposes and for employee cards outside the Key and Research Staff Programme. For more information, see the article Economic Migration Programs.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

Pursuant to Section 57(2), Section 169k(1), and Section 169(1) of Act No. 326/1999 Coll., on the Residence of Foreign Nationals in the Territory of the Czech Republic and on Amendments to Certain Acts, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Hanoi may conduct an interview with an applicant for a long-term residence permit at the time of submission of the application. The interview shall be conducted in the Czech language; however, it may also be conducted in English. If the applicant does not have sufficient proficiency in either of these languages, they are obliged to arrange for an interpreter at their own expense.

As a rule, the interpreter should be a person listed in the register of interpreters and translators available at https://seznat.justice.cz. Exceptionally, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Hanoi may appoint another person as an interpreter, provided that such person possesses the necessary language qualifications for interpreting and can demonstrate them (for example, by a certificate of an internationally recognized language examination at a minimum level of B2, a secondary school leaving certificate, or by other appropriate means). A person cannot be appointed as an interpreter if there are doubts about their impartiality due to their relationship to the matter, to the participants in the proceedings, or to their representatives.

Children under the age of 12 do not provide fingerprints and therefore do not need to appear in person to submit an application. However, in justified cases, the embassy may require children under the age of 12 to be present for identity verification purposes. Children between the ages of 12 and 15 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian who submits the application on their behalf.

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Hanoi strongly recommends that all applicants avoid offers from intermediaries, whether agencies or individuals, who offer to prepare visa applications and arrange appointments for their submission in exchange for payment.

All fees related to the visa application are paid directly to the embassy when submitting the visa application in person. Any additional fee paid to an agent is only a fee for their service, which does not give you any advantage over other applicants in the procedure itself, in assigning an appointment, or in obtaining a residence permit.
