
Czechia at the 51st session of the UN Human Rights Council

The 51st Session of the UN Human Rights Council took place from 12 September to 7 October.
Czechia participated in the Session as a Council’s Member State. At the same time, it held the Presidency of the Council of the EU and therefore represented in some cases the EU27.
The Council considered around 40 resolutions during its Fall Session. Czechia, together with other EU Member States, submitted resolutions on the human rights situations in Afghanistan, Burundi and Ethiopia.
Together with a group of countries, Czechia presented a resolution on the human rights situation in Russia. The resolution was successfully adopted on 7 October 2022.
At the 51st Session, Czechia participated in its national capacity in the following debates and dialogues:

- > Interactive dialogue on the High Commissioner’s oral update on Ukraine (4.10.2022)
Czechia is a member of the Council for a term from May 2022 to December 2023. Previously, it was a member of the Council three times in 2006-2007, 2011-2014 and 2019-2021.
