Legalizations: Monday 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. (unless specified otherwise on this website)
Passport and visa collections: Mondays, 9 am - 12 p.m. (with appointment given by the embassy via e-mail)
For operational and security reasons any visa appointments must be pre-arranged and previously confirmed by the embassy via email.
TERRITORIAL JURISDICTION
The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Addis Ababa accepts Schengen visa or long-term visa/residence permit applications of citizens of Ethiopia, Comoros, Djibouti, Seychelles, Somalia and South Sudan and long-term/permanent residents in these countries.
Citizens of Ethiopia, Comoros, Djibouti and South Sudan need visa for short-term (up to 90 days) or long-term (over 90 days) stays in the Czech Republic/Schengen Area.
Citizens of Seychelles do not need visa for short-term (up to 90 days) non-profit stays in the Czech Republic/Schengen Area, but they need visas for long-term stays.
Citizens of Djibouti can apply for Schengen visas also at the Embassy of France in Djibouti, which represents the Czech Republic for the purpose of Schengen visa applications.
Citizens of Comoros can apply for Schengen visas also at the Embassy of France in Moroni, which represents the Czech Republic for the purpose of Schengen visa applications.
IMPORTANT NOTICE for citizens of Somalia: the Czech Republic does not recognize Somalia or Somaliland passports. Therefore it is not possible to apply for a long-term visa/residence permit and all the Schengen visa applications will be refused unless directly supported by the Government of the Czech Republic.
The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Addis Ababa represents Slovakia for the purpose of Schengen visa applications in Ethiopia.

The embassy usually replies to specific e-mail inquiries within 5-15 days (up to 30 days by law).
The embassy does not provide any telephone consultations. The embassy does not communicate via social networks.
The embassy does not provide information on visa application status during the legal review period. The embassy notifies the applicants as soon as the decision is made. You may check the status of your long-term visa/residence permit application on the website of the Ministry of Interior.

FEES
Visa and consular fees are collected upon application submission in cash in EUR only.
LANGUAGE
The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Addis Ababa communicates in Czech and English when processing visa and residence permit applications. If applicants do not understand either of these languages, they must arrange for an official certified interpreter at their own costs.
