The Special Envoy for Expatriate Affairs, Jiří Krátký, met with the Principle of the Czech School in Miami, Jitka Putra, who is also the representative of the Honorary Consulate of the Czech Republic in Miami to discuss the development of the expatriate community in Miami. The meeting took place in Prague on 13 January 2025.

The main topic was the activities of the new school in the past year as well as the activities  of the Honorary Consulate. Mr. Kratky and Ms. Putra focused especially on the administrative needs of Czechs living abroad, such as the official verification of documents in the USA, both in a broader context and in connection with the preparation for the first postal voting of Czechs living abroad in 2025 (deadlines, ways to register to vote, etc.).

Jiří Krátký and Jitka Putra also discussed the main steps to implement the request to post a teacher from the Czech Republic (a graduate teacher) to Florida. Both schools (Miami and Sarasota) have expressed interest in having a teacher posted in their schools. The Principle of the Czech School in Miami plans to meet with representatives of the Czech National Agency for Internatioanal Education and Research and Charles University to discuss the posting.

Jitka Putra, on behalf of the Czechs living abroad, thanked the Special Envoy for sending the traditional New Year's letter, which addresses several key topics, including the timetable for the implementation of the postal voting. The trips to the Czech Republic during Christmas time are an excellent opportunity to meet with representatives of Czech institutions supporting Czechs living abroad.
