A weapon of category A, B or C or ammunition for such a weapon may be temporarily imported, held or carried in the territory of Czechia or transported through the territory of Czechia only on the basis of a permit. exception from general requirements - European firearms passport

In case of foreign sporting shooters, the permit referred to above is not in principle necessary in order to travel with sporting firearms of category B or C in terms of the Czech Firearms Act, essential parts of these firearms, appropriate quantity of ammunition for these firearms, on condition that these sporting shooters are in possession of a valid European Firearms Pass, all temporarily imported sporting firearms or essential parts of these firearms are listed on their European Firearms Pass and these sporting shooters can present the reason for the journey (in particular, they possess an officially verified letter of invitation issued by the Czech organizer of the shooting event or they possess a copy of such letter of invitation).

During the whole period of stay in the Czech Republic, every holder of European Firearms Pass must always carry this document whenever they have firearms of category B or C / essential parts of these firearms or ammunition with them and must be able to show this document (preferably along with original / copy of verified letter of invitation) whenever they are asked to do so by the relevant Czech authorities.

Every holder of a European Firearms Pass who temporarily imports firearms of category B or C / essential parts of these firearms or ammunition is subject to the general requirements for safe storage and transportation in terms of the Section 58 of the Czech Firearms Act. Firearms of category B or C and essential parts of these firearms and ammunition must be under their direct supervision.

In general, every holder of European Firearms Pass has rights and obligations similar to those of the holder of a Czech Firearms Permit (so called zbrojní průkaz) in terms of sections 28 and 29 of the Czech Firearms Act.

Foreign sporting shooter (holder of European Firearms Pass) travelling by airplane

On arrival at the airport in the Czech Republic and on final departure from the Czech Republic, it is necessary to contact the Police Office at the airport and present the European Firearms Permit to the relevant police officer. On this occasion, all transported firearms of category B or C and essential parts of these firearms or ammunition shall be checked by this police officer.

Please note that airlines have their own rules on transportation of firearms and ammunition on airplanes. For this reason, it is always wise to check the conditions with the airline. It is highly recommended to obtain a written confirmation from the airline indicating that the airline has no objection to planned transportation of firearms or ammunition.
