A passport is the primary identification document for international travel. It can also be used as proof of citizenship and as a personal identification document.
Czech passports are issued only to Czech citizens upon submission of the appropriate documents confirming Czech citizenship. If you do not have these documents available, we recommend that you refer to the chapter registry office. Representatives of a social service representing the interests of a minor child , please proceed to the chapter for social services only.
If your passport is set to expire within the next six months, please contact us in time and submit an application for a new document.
Passports contain two biometric data elements: a photograph and fingerprints. Passports issued to citizens under the age of 12 do not include fingerprint biometric data.
required documents for applicants aged 0-17:
- printed and completed forms:
- Personal Data (to be completed by a parent or by the child if aged 15+)
- Declaration 15+ or Declaration for a child aged 0-14
- a valid passport or national ID card of the parent
- the original Czech birth certificate of the child
- the child's Czech passport or Czech national ID card, or a certificate of Czech citizenship (at the time of the appointment, the certificate must not be older than 12 months; we recommend checking the validity of your document = issue date + 1 year)
- if the child has acquired foreign citizenship: the British naturalization certificate and passport
The parent (legal guardian) must attend the appointment together with the child.
required documents for applicants aged 18+:
- printed and completed forms:
- a valid Czech passport or Czech national ID card
If you have an expired passport or an expired national ID card, then:
- if the document was issued before 31.12.2013, you must present:
- a certificate of Czech citizenship (valid for only 1 year from the date of issue)
- the original Czech birth certificate
- if the document was issued on or after 01.01.2014, you must present:
- the original Czech birth certificate
In the case of a surname change after marriage, the original Czech marriage certificate must be presented.
In the case of acquiring foreign citizenship, a British naturalization certificate and a passport must be presented.
If the documents do not contain the applicant's Czech birth number, it is necessary to present proof of the Czech birth number (such as a birth certificate, marriage certificate, or a document confirming the assigned birth number).

Fees apply according to the current schedule of charges. Payments can be made by card or in cash.
useful Information
The applicant must be present in person both to submit the application and to collect the passport. The passport cannot be sent by mail to the applicant's address.
By law, the processing time for passport applications in the Czech Republic is up to 120 days from the date of submission of the application. However, passports are usually delivered from the Czech Republic within 5-6 weeks.
Photographs are taken at the time of application.
The validity of passports is 10 years for applicants aged 15+ and 5 years for applicants aged 0-14.
