Conference of Czech Compatriot Schools in Germany

At the weekend of 22-23 March 2025, a conference of Czech Compatriot Schools took place in Dresden. The conference was organised by Schola Ludus, the largest of the Czech Compatriot Schools in Germany, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of its founding. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Standing Senate Commission on Compatriots Living Abroad participated at the conference.

The conference was held in Radebeul near Dresden, where Schola Ludus holds its Saturday classes. The event was attended by 6 schools out of the 12 schools registered with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as regional educational associations. The Consul General Ivona Valhová and the Consul Jozef Špánik attended the meeting on behalf of the Czech Consulate General in Dresden. The Special Envoy for Expatriate Affairs, Jiří Krátký, and the Officer Zuzana Chrištofová came from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Standing Commission of the Senate included the Chairperson Tomáš Czernin, Helena Pešatová, Jiří Vosecký and the Secretary of the Commission Broňa Vacková.

Before the official opening of the event, the invited guests had the opportunity to see the teaching and talk to both teachers and students from 1st to 9th grade. During the conference, schools presented their activities and the challenges they are currently facing. Recognition of Czech language teaching for German report cards and the provision of suitable teaching spaces belong to the most important challenges. An informal meeting, which followed on Sunday 23 March 2025, gave the opportunity for further exchange of information and experience.
