Exhibition of illustrations by the Czech artist Renáta Fučíková in Denmark

The exhibition of illustrations to Chinese fairy tales and to fairy tales by H. C. Andersen by the Czech illustrator Renáta Fučíková continues its tour in Denmark.
Renáta Fučíková is a prominent Czech illustrator and author of illustrated children books. She was born in 1964 in Prague and graduated at illustration and applied graphics at the Academy of Art, Architecture and Design in Prague. She cooperates with numerous Czech as well as foreign publishing houses, children magazines, she designs post stamps and regularly runs exhibitions in the Czech Republic and abroad. Her longtime cooperation with the writer Alena Ježková resulted in a range of excellent books that tell the children life stories of significant historical personalities (e.g. Stories of Czech Princes and Kings, Charles IV, Johan Amos Comenius, Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk), Czech and Moravian fables or Prague legends.

Her qualities have been approved by many awards, e. g. nine Golden Ribbons for illustrations of Grimm Brothers fairy tales (1994), Oscar Wilde fairy tales (1995), etc. Renáta Fučíková has been put on IBBY’s (The International Board on Books for Young People by UNESCO) Honour List for illustrations of Old Testament Tales (1998).
The exhibition, which is presented in Denmark, consists of illustrations to Chinese fairy tales (Chinese Fairy Tales, published by Gründ, Paris and Brio, Prague, 2007) and H. C. Andersen´s fairy tales (H. C. Andersen: Fairy Tales, published by Gründ, Paris, 1994 and 1999).

Renáta Fučíková often participates at public readings, debates on Czech history or the importance of reading and drawing. She often works with children, who can during her workshops learn about Czech and world history in entertaining and creative way.
