One World in Brussels 2010
10.03.2010 / 15:16
The fourth season of the "One World" human rights documentary film festival will be held from 12 to 19 April 2010 in Brussels under the auspices of Jerzy Buzek, the President of the European Parliament, Václav Havel, the former President of the Czech Republic, and Milena Vicenová, the Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic to the European Union.
"One World" is the largest and the most significant human rights film festival in Europe. It is firmly established as one of the premier cultural and media events in the Czech Republic. Every year, the main segment of the festival in Prague shows around 120 documentary films focusing on human rights as well as social and political challenges of our world. In 2006, "One World" was awarded a UNESCO special mention for its contribution to human rights and peace education.
In the city of Brussels, this event has already established a reputation as one of premier cultural events. It is co-organised by the Czech Permanent Representation to the EU, People in Need (the largest Czech NGO), the European Parliament, the UN Regional Information Centre (UNRIC) and the Bozar Centre for Fine Arts in partnership with the Warsaw based Watch Docs film festival, Festival des Libertés and the Human Rights and Democracy Network and with generous support from the Czech Polish Forum and the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Poland to the European Union.
In its fourth season this spring, "One World" in Brussels presents 18 films from various corners of our planet on human rights, social and political issues. Screenings will be followed by a debate on the subject.
You are cordially invited to have a look at the programme of the festival below and make your reservation. We look forward to seeing you at one (or more) of the screenings in April.
