Vladimír Bärtl
Ambassador, Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic to the EU
Vladimír Bärtl graduated from the Czech Technical University, Department of Geodesy and Cartography, in 1988. In 1992-1993, he completed further studies in Geographic Information Systems at the same university's Department of Architecture.
He joined the diplomatic service in 1999, initially working in the Department for External Economic Relations and International Organizations. Between 2000 and 2004, he served as First Secretary at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Ottawa. Following this, he worked as an Advisor to the Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Industry and Trade while also holding the position of Marketing Director at BCM Control s.r.o. from 2004 to 2006.
From 2006 to 2010, he was posted as a Counsellor at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Paris. After returning to the Czech Republic, he served as Marketing Director at BCM Control s.r.o. in parallel to becoming a Fiduciary to the Minister for International Trade Competitiveness at the Ministry of Industry and Trade in 2011.
Between 2013 and 2019, he held high-ranking positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, including Secretary of the Economic Section and Deputy Minister for the EU and Foreign Trade Section. From February 2020 to January 2025, he was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
Since February 2025, he has been serving as the Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic to the European Union.
He is fluent in English and French.
