Visa
General information regarding the ENTRY & RESIDENCE in the Czech Republic.
Citizens of the U.S.A., Canada, and Mexico are not required to have a visa to visit the Czech Republic/Schengen area for a period of up to 90 days within a 180-day period (except profitable activities) - it is calculated from the date of first entry into any Schengen country.
However, visas are required for stays exceeding 90 days and profitable activities. The conditions of entry and short term stay of aliens in the territory of the Czech Republic/Schengen area are regulated by the Regulations No 810/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council, so called "Visa Code" and for long term visa by the Act No. 326/1999 Coll. Citizens of EU countries, EEA countries and citizens of Switzerland do not require a visa for any type of visit or stay in the Czech Republic as effective on May 1, 2004.

TERRITORIAL JURISDICTION
The Consulate General of the Czech Republic in New York has jurisdiction over the following states: Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont.
The Consulate General of the Czech Republic in New York accepts Schengen visa or a long-term visa / residence permit applications of citizens and long-term/permanent residents of the United States of America residing within its territorial jurisdiction.
Citizens of the United States of America do not need a visa for short-term (up to 90 days) non-profit stays in the Czech Republic / Schengen Area, but they need visas for long-term stays.

The consulate does not provide information on visa application status during the legal review period.
The consulate will post the results of the visa applications in the APPROVED VISA section of the websites.
Please be aware that no status updates on short term visa, long term visa and residency applications will be given by the Consulate (neither by mail nor phone). If your number does not appear on the website, then it means your visa is still in process. Please keep in mind the visa processing times when checking your visa status.

The consulate does not communicate using social networks.
FEES
Visa / residence permit fees are collected upon application submission by card or in cash.
LANGUAGE
The Consulate General of the Czech Republic in New York communicates in Czech and English when processing visa and residence permit applications. If the applicant understands neither of these languages, he/she must arrange for an interpreter when applying for a long-term visa / residence permit, at his/her costs. Examinations are conducted in Czech only. If the applicant does not speak Czech, he/she must arrange for an interpreter for the purposes of examination, at his/her costs.
