Ending of the Czech Presidency of the V4 group

On June 20, 2016, the Ambassador Jiří Šitler organized a gala dinner at the Czech Embassy in Stockholm to celebrate the end of the Czech Presidency of the Visegrad Group.

The main guest of the evening was the chairman of the Swedish Parliament, Urban Ahlin, who has been interested in the developments in the V4 countries and their regional cooperation for the long time. Among other guests were the representatives of the V4 countries in Stockholm, the Ambassador of the Netherlands G. Christina Coppoolse and the Ambassador of Estonia Merle Pajula. Transatlantic cooperation was represented by the Ambassador of the USA Azita Raji and the Canadian ambassador Kenneth Macartney. From the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs the dinner was attended by the Director of the Department of Protocol Klas Molin and the coordinator of the arms exports Ambassador Anders Bengtcén.

The discussion was devoted to the overall development in the V4 countries during the past 25 years, the evaluation of V4 cooperation and activities of the Visegrad Fund, to which Sweden and Netherlands also contribute. Within the European dimension of the debate, the topics of European values ​​and the need to discuss them with the public were discussed. By representatives of the transatlantic cooperation, the discussion included inspiring suggestions for further development of regional cooperation.

During the dinner, which took place in a friendly atmosphere with a lively discussion, the guests had the unique opportunity to taste not only Czech but also European gourmet specialties that were served along with a selection of Moravian wines from the region of Velké Pavlovice, Pilsner beer and the traditional liqueur Becherovka.
