The Embassy of the Czech Republic visited a delegation of ten teachers of the first level of Czech elementary schools on May 23, 2018.
Ambassador Jiří Šitler talked with teachers about the first project abroad "Odlišnost inspiruje", which focuses on the inclusion of disabled children, migrant children and minority nationalities children in Czech schools.
The organisation Osvětová beseda, which is headed by Zuzana Labudová, chose Sweden for its many years of experience with this issue, thanks to the large number of immigrants. The project was approved thanks to the Operational programe "Praha-pól růstu“. Teachers visited several Swedish schools to make a realistic picture of how this inclusion works in Sweden in common practice. The aim was also to find approaches that could be applied in Czech education. The chairwoman of the Katrineholm culture club Jarmila Kocourková and the representative of the Czech compatriot association Eva Zakrzewski, accompanied the group of teachers. Mrs. Jarmila Kocourková also mentioned that more than 50% of foreign children visit Katrineholms school. In Prague and Karlovy Vary, there is an average of 11% of foreign children at schools.
