Deputy Prime Minister Macinka After the S3 Format Meeting in Tirana: The Western Balkans Will Help Shape Europe’s Future

It is in our interest, as Europe, to support Albania, including in its ambition to become part of the European Union. This was the conclusion of the meeting held on 30 April 2026 in Tirana. In addition to the head of Albanian diplomacy, the meeting was attended by ministers of the Slavkov Format, currently chaired by Slovakia. The Czech Republic was represented by Deputy Prime Minister Petr Macinka.

“Albania is a reliable partner in the fields of security, political and economic cooperation. It is encouraging to see that, alongside internal reforms, it is also making significant progress in EU accession negotiations,” said the Czech Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs after the meeting. He added that it is the EU’s task to support all countries in the region, as their fate is decisive for Europe’s future development.
