"Days of V4 Films" in Riga

On November 21-24 within the "Days of V4 Films" festival the Latvian audience could enjoy the comedy genre movies in the K-Suns cinema; the event was organised together with the Embassies of Slovakia, Poland and Hungary. On Thursday, November 23, there was screened the movie "Seclusion Near a Forest“, 1976 („Na samotě u lesa“, 1976) by Jiří Menzel.
This movie was a great and truly deserved success. The screening was attended by more than 130 spectators including the members of diplomatic corps, members of the Latvian-Czech Society, students and the Latvian public – the cinema auditorium was filled to the last place.
This classic Czech comedy is a joint work of the scriptwriter Zdeněk Svěrák and director Jiří Menzel. The movie translation into Latvian was made by Māris Delveris and Olga Lobko, employees of the Czech Embassy in Riga. The film was screened with English subtitles and simultaneous translation into Latvian.
The festival also included the selected animation films for children from the Visegrad countries. On Sunday, November 26, the Czech cinematography was represented by "Štaflík a Špagetka“ by Václav Bedřich.
