A) Marriage in the Philippines
The conditions for marriage are according to local Philippine laws.
Regarding requirements in acquiring a marriage license for the purpose of getting married in the Philippines, it is necessary to contact the City / Town Hall where the marriage will take place. The following list indicates the common basic requirements that are submitted:
Documents a Czech citizen will need to marry in the Philippines:
1. Birth Certificate
2. Legal Capacity to Marry (Vysvĕdčení o právní způsobilosti k uzavření manželství)
3. If divorced – Certificate confirming divorce
4. If widow – Certificate confirming death of spouse
5. Document confirming citizenship and identity eg. Valid Passport
6. Copy of passport and stamp of latest date of arrival in the Philippines
7. Photo
The Legal Capacity to Marry confirms that the Czech citizen is single and legally permitted to get married. This document is issued, upon the request of the citizen, by the Registration Department of the Town Hall where the requesting person has permanent residence in the Czech Republic. In case the requesting party does not reside permanently in the Czech Republic, the document may be requested at the place of last residence prior to leaving the country.
If the Czech citizen resides permanently in a foreign country, he/she may apply for the Legal Capacity to Marry through the Czech Embassy/Consulate where he/she resides or at the Czech Embassy/Consulate that is acredited for the country.
For the documents to be recognized in the Philippines, the Czech documents must receive an apostille from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.
Documents in Czech language must be officially translated into English. However, translation is not required for the Legal Capacity to Marry, as the document is already issued in various languages.
Authorities in the Philippines may request for further certification of documents that already have an apostille. If this occurs, please contact the Czech Embassy Manila.
Please note that the issuance of the Marriage Certificate on NSO SECPA (National Statistics Office Security Paper), a document that is a requirement to register your marriage in the Czech Republic, may take a few weeks to a few months to acquire.
