Poet Anna Řezníčková: Manchseter debut

A Promising Czech poet Anna Řezníčková began her first visit to the United Kingdom on June 5 with an author’s reading at the Consulate General in Manchester. In addition to her poetry, the evening program—titled Until What Is Observed Parts—also featured a video collage called Hanging the Laundry.
Anna Řezníčková’s work sensitively captures small moments of everyday life that carry unexpected depth and intimacy. The poems she selected for the Manchester audience from her debut collection Hello, We’ve Actually Known Each Other for a Long Time, You Are Also Human (Fra), together with the accompanying audiovisual experience, offered listeners an opportunity to pause and rediscover something new within the familiar.
Anna Řezníčková is considered one of the promising talents of contemporary Czech poetry. A graduate of the University of Creative Communication, she combines poetry with performance and happenings. She has published, among others, in the journals Listy, Rukopis+, and Host. Some of her poems have been translated into Polish and Japanese. Her trip to the United Kingdom and her performances in Manchester, as well as at a festival in Nottingham, were supported by the Czech Literary Centre.
