On 20 May 2026, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister Petr Macinka welcomed his Israeli counterpart Gideon Sa’ar, along with a business delegation of more than 50 Israeli companies and institutions. Together, the ministers opened the Czech–Israeli business forum, which was attended by around 150 representatives of Czech companies.
The Israeli visit built on Deputy Prime Minister Macinka’s trip to Israel in April, during which the two foreign ministers signed a declaration establishing a joint commission between the Czech and Israeli Ministries of Foreign Affairs.
“Today’s business forum is exceptional. For both Gideon Sa’ar and myself, it is the largest business event we have hosted during our time in office, and I am truly proud of it,” said Minister Macinka. “Our goal is for similar business interactions to take place regularly,” the Czech Foreign Minister added.
Already on Tuesday, 19 May, representatives of Israeli companies held meetings with Czech business partners directly at local healthcare and security companies. The Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic and the Manufacturers’ Association of Israel also signed a memorandum of understanding today.
At the press conference, Minister Macinka expressed clear Czech support for the State of Israel within the European Union. “We will not agree to any further trade sanctions, nor to further attempts to suspend or restrict the EU–Israel Association Agreement,” the Deputy Prime Minister stated.
The ministers also discussed the ongoing crisis in the Middle East, its impact on Europe, and the European Union’s common foreign and security policy.
