In 2017 Zambia became one of the six priority countries receiving support through the Czech development cooperation programme. Czech Aid focuses on key sectors, such as agriculture and rural development with the aim of increasing productivity, managing natural resources sustainably, and creating jobs particularly for women and youth. Beyond agriculture, Czechia emphasizes inclusive social development and good democratic governance, improving access to education, healthcare, and nutrition, while promoting transparency, accountability, human rights, and constitutional principles.

The Czech Republic plans to continue its activities in Zambia in the coming years and has developed a comprehensive Development Cooperation Programe, where Czechia outlines in activities for the current period of 2024-2030. The Programme as well as all implemented projects are drafted in line with the GRZ strategies, and development plans and all Czech Aid activities in Zambia are overseen by the Memorandum of Understanding between Zambia and Czechia on Development Cooperation.
In recent years, Czechia has decided to play an even greater role in development cooperation in Zambia. Therefore, since 2023 the Czech Republic is increasingly engaging in cooperation with the European Union in Zambia. Through the Team Europe Initiatives, Czechia seeks to implement impactful projects in the areas of expertise further highlighting the European impact in Zambia.
