March 18–19, 2024: Visit of the Chief of the General Staff


Chief of the General Staff of the Czech Armed Forces Karel Řehka visited Finland at the invitation of his Finnish counterpart Timo Kivinen. Both were keynote speakers at a panel discussion organized by the Embassy to mark the 25th anniversary of the Czechia's accession to NATO. The visit focused, among other things, on Finland's comprehensive security system, and the Czech delegation held meetings and discussions with the leadership of the Security Committee, the European Center of Excellence for Countering Hybrid Threats, the National Emergency Supply Agency, the Border Guard, and the Rifle Guard Regiment. Finally, a meeting was held with Minister of Defense Antti Häkkänen.


April 17, 2024: Visit of the Minister for European Affairs


Minister for European Affairs Martin Dvořák met with his counterpart Anders Adlercreutz. He also held talks with members of the parliamentary "Grand Committee," which oversees all EU agendas, and attended a working breakfast with Maria Blässar, Head of the EC Representation in Finland, and Juha Jokela, Head of EU Research at the Finnish Institute of International Affairs (FIIA). During his visit, Minister Dvořák also gave an interview to Finnish public television and radio station Yle on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Czech Republic's accession to the EU, where he highlighted the benefits of membership.


May 15–17, 2024: Visit by the Senate Committee on Social Policy


A delegation from the Senate Committee on Social Policy met with Finnish partners to discuss the social and health care system in Finland and its reform, support for the employment of people with reduced working capacity, gender equality in the labour market, and assistance to victims of domestic and sexual violence. Special attention was paid to the model of so-called social enterprises. During the meetings with partner parliamentary committees, emphasis was placed on the impact of the increase in mental disorders and illnesses among young people on their ability to work, digitalization, and the future shape of social services.


May 22, 2024: Consultation on cooperation within EU and NATO


Consultations between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Eduard Hulicius in Helsinki with the Minister for EU Affairs and senior representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Prime Minister's Office focused on cooperation in securing positions within the EU and NATO, priorities for the new EU term, the EU's strategic agenda, and strengthening cooperation in like-minded areas.

August 31, 2024: Meeting between Presidents Pavel and Stubb on the sidelines of the Globsec conference in Prague


On the sidelines of the Globsec conference in Prague, a meeting took place between Presidents Petr Pavel and Alexander Stubb. The presidents agreed on the vast majority of key issues, such as support for Ukraine, security, migration, competitiveness, the use of new technologies, EU enlargement, and others. President Pavel concluded by inviting his Finnish counterpart to pay an official visit to the Czech Republic, which President Stubb accepted. 

September 5–6, 2024: Visit of the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs 


Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Marian Jurečka met with his Finnish counterparts, Minister of Social Affairs and Health Kaisa Juuso and Minister of Employment Arto Satonen. He also held talks with Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Sari Essayah and members of the government and opposition.

December 3, 2024: Visit of the Special Envoy for the Unified Presentation of Czechia 


During his working visit, Marek Pyszko, Special Envoy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the Unified Presentation of the Czechia Abroad, met with representatives of the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and the Finnish Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Pyszko offered his partners experience in creating a unified visual style and more systematic cooperation in the creation of a national image/branding.

December 13, 2024: DIA and DVV consultation


Senior officials and experts from the Czech Digital and Information Agency (DIA) and the Finnish Digital and Population Data Services Agency (DVV) took part in an online consultation. The main focus was on a presentation by the DVV based on specific topics provided in advance by the DIA. The main topics included measuring the success of digital services, including cost-effectiveness, removing legal barriers, providing digital services, and pan-European projects.
