May 3,2022: Cyber security consultations 

The main topics of the consultations of the Director of the Cybersecurity Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Richard Kadlčák, in Helsinki were the priorities and upcoming events of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU, with particular emphasis on the impact of new technologies on human rights, national coordination systems and institutional anchoring of security in cyberspace, the importance of geopolitics and the external dimension of cybersecurity, and strengthening cooperation of the EU Member States in multilateral forums.

June 2, 2022: Visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs

During his visit to Finland, Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Lipavský met with his counterpart Pekka Haavisto and Minister for European Affairs Tytti Tuppurainen. The ministers discussed the accession of Finland and Sweden to NATO, the priorities of the Czech EU Presidency, developments in Ukraine and energy security.

June 6, 2022: Discussion on the supply of military equipment 

A meeting was held in Helsinki between Filip Gantner, Deputy State Secretary for Armaments and Acquisitions of the Ministry of Defence, and Tarja Jaakkola, Deputy National Armaments Director of the Finnish Ministry of Defence. The aim of the meeting was to strengthen mutual cooperation and exchange experiences in the field of acquisition of military equipment.

June 15, 2022: Consultation on crisis management and deployment to civilian missions  

Centre for Crisis Management (CMC) hosted a consultation on crisis management and the system of deployment to civilian missions of international governmental organisations. The consultation was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of the Interior and the Police Presidium on behalf of the Finnish side. Czechia was represented by the Ministry of Interior and the Police Presidium. The CMC presented its activities and experience in deploying civilian experts, the legislative framework and the funding system. The Czech Ministry of the Interior presented the sectoral priorities of the Czech EU Presidency.

August 24-25, 2022: Discussion on cooperation in university education and science  

During her visit to Finland, Radka Wildová, Deputy Minister of the Management of the Higher  Education, Science and Research Section of the Ministry of Education, Science and Research, held talks with Atte Jääskeläinen, Director General for Higher Education and Science Policy at the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture, and the directors of the University of Turku and Åbo Akademi. The topics of the meeting were international cooperation, lifelong learning programmes and micro-credentials. Wildová also took part in a panel discussion on the European University Strategy, European University Alliances and international cooperation at the Europe Forum in Turku.

November, 8-11, 2022: Visit of the Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport

Members of the Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sports of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic visited Finland. The delegation led by the Chairman of the Committee, prof. Ivo Vondrák, met the Committee on Education of the Finnish Parliament, the Director General for Secondary Education of the Ministry of Education and Culture Petri Lempinen and representatives of the Faculty of Education of the University of Helsinki and the National Education Agency. The MPs learned about Finnish education system and teacher training. Issues related to the promotion of research and development were discussed during delegation’s visit to the Technical Research Centre (VTT).
