January 30, 2023: Czech delegation meeting on hybrid threats
Members of the Chamber of Deputies' Standing Committee on Hybrid Threats Lukáš Vlček, Robert Králíček and Hayato Okamura, together with the Governmental Envoy for Media and Disinformation and a representative of the Ministry of Defense, visited the European Center of Excellence for Countering Hybrid Threats in Helsinki. The delegation also met with Deputy Minister for Foreign and Security Policy Kai Sauer and MFA Ambassador for Hybrid Threats Liisa Talonpoika.
February 18, 2023: Meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs
Ministers of Foreign Affairs Jan Lipavský and Pekka Haavisto met on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference. The main topic of the meeting was further support for Ukraine and ensuring energy security. Other topics discussed included Finnish and Swedish membership of NATO and possibilities for cooperation in the Arctic.
April 20, 2023: Establishment of a parliamentary Group of Friends of Czechia
A Group of Friends of Czechia has been re-established in the Finnish Parliament following the elections. At the group's first meeting, which was also attended by the Czech ambassador, Mikko Savola, a member of the Finnish Centre Party and former Minister of Defence, was elected chair. On 9 May, a social event was held at the Embassy with members of the group of friends, where, in addition to getting to know each other, a discussion on future cooperation took place.
May 24–26, 2023: Consultations of the Special Envoy for Energy Security
The Special Envoy for Energy Security at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Václav Bartuška, held consultations with representatives of the Fortum energy group, the operator of the newly launched Olkiluoto 3 TVO nuclear power plant, the Finnish nuclear regulator STUK, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment, and the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. During the visit to Olkiluoto, which was also attended by representatives of the Senate Subcommittee on Energy, the Finnish partners shared their experiences of the significantly prolonged and costly construction and offered to share their know-how from the construction of Onkalo, the only permanent deep geological repository for spent nuclear fuel to date.
June 5–8, 2023: Visit of the Senate Committee on Regional Development, Public Administration and the Environment
A delegation from the Committee on Regional Development, Public Administration and the Environment, led by Jitka Seitlová, Vice-President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, took part in a series of meetings in Finland focusing on topics related to the environment, forestry, agriculture, and the digitization of public administration. The meetings were held with representatives of the Ministry of the Environment, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, and representatives of the University of Eastern Finland, among others.
July 12–13, 2023: Working visit of the Director General of the Legal and Consular Section and Director of the Visa Department
Martin Smolek, Director General of the Legal and Consular Section, and Hana Flanderová, Director of the Visa Department, met with Leena Liukkonen, Deputy Director General for Consular Services, at the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Another meeting at the ministry was held with Riina Keskinen, Senior Expert on Visa Processes and Migration.
