Elections to the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic Will Be Held in Chicago on October 2 and 3, 2025

By decision of the President of the Republic, elections to the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic have been announced. In the consular district of the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Chicago, voting will take place on Thursday, October 2, and Friday, October 3, 2025. Based on a draw by the State Electoral Commission, votes cast in the USA will be counted in the Central Bohemian Region.
Election Dates
The President of the Republic announced the elections for October 3 and 4, 2025, as published in the Collection of Laws under No. 138/2025 Coll.
Due to the time difference, voting at the Consulate General in Chicago will take place one day earlier, on Thursday, October 2, and Friday, October 3, 2025. Voting will not be possible on Saturday at the Consulate; only vote counting will take place then.
On May 21, 2025, the State Electoral Commission decided by draw that votes cast in America will be allocated to the Central Bohemian Region.
Voting Location and Times
Voting will take place at the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Chicago
(205 North Michigan Avenue, Suite 1680, Chicago, Illinois, 60601, USA) on:
- October 2, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM (local time)
- October 3, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM (local time)
There will be no special invitations for voters. No need to book an appointment, in difference for the “normal” visit of the Consulate. Be ready to present your ID (Czech passport).
Voter Participation
To vote, you must be registered in the special voter list maintained by the Consulate General in Chicago, or present a voter certificate. Czech citizenship and identity will be controlled - voter will present Czech passport or other documents proving identity and citizenship.
Voting by Mail
Thanks to an amendment to the Electoral Administration Act (Act No. 268/2024 Coll.), Czech citizens living abroad have been able to request postal voting since 2025.
To vote by mail, the voter must be registered in the special voter list at the Consulate General in Chicago. This registration is permanent, meaning it does not need to be repeated for each election, and will end only after the voter asks for it.
Requests for postal voting can be submitted from the date the elections were announced, i.e., from May 14, 2025, until:
- August 29, 2025 (for requests sent by mail)
- October 1, 2025 (for requests submitted in person at Consulate)
Voter Certificates
If you are registered in the special voter list at the Consulate General in Chicago but wish to vote in a different district (in the Czech Republic or elsewhere in the world), you can request a voter certificate from the Consulate General in Chicago.
