Important information

 

Based on Passport Law No. 326/1999, it is necessary to apply for a biometric passport IN PERSON at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Bogotá.

For citizens under 15 years of age, the application must be submitted by their legal representative, and the legal representative must always be present together with the citizen under 15 years of age.

It is mandatory to make an appointment by phone or email with the Embassy before visiting in person.

The Honorary Consulates of the Czech Republic do not have the technical equipment necessary to process the application, it is therefore essential to start the process at the Embassy in Bogotá.

The maximum processing time for a biometric passport is 120 days.

 

The requirements

 

- Valid Czech passport or identity card;

- If the applicant does not have a valid Czech passport or identity card, they must present a valid Certificate of Citizenship of the Czech Republic. If the applicant does not have a valid Certificate of Czech Citizenship, they must first apply for it at the Embassy;

- Consular fees for the issuance of a biometric passport are paid at the Embassy when applying for the passport in cash or by card, in COP (Colombian pesos) or USD (US dollars) according to the current exchange rate;

- Once we receive the new passport at the Embassy, we will inform you. If the applicant wishes to have the passport delivered by an Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic, it is essential to prepay the DHL shipping costs. Once we have received the prepaid shipping label (round trip) from you, we can send the new passport to the Honorary Consulate. The Honorary Consul will deliver the passport to the applicant at their office. The applicant will sign the necessary documents and at the same time hand over their old passport. The Honorary Consul's office will send all the signed documents together with the old passport to the Embassy via DHL. That is why it is necessary to prepay DHL for the round trip. This last step completes the entire process.
