
Bauerovi Josefov Puppet Theater

The Embassy of the Czech Republic invites you to the Bauerovi Josefov Puppet Theater’s performance at the Czech Embassy on April 19, 2023, at 6:00 pm. Puppeteers Roman Bedřich Bauer and Libuška Bauerová will perform two fairy tales. The Piggy (O prasátku) is a classic fairy tale, in which cleverness triumphs over cunning and diligence over laziness. The Jester and the Princess (Kaspárek a princezna) is a fairy tale about how the evil sorcerer turns the princess into a dragon and the brave knight frees her with the help of a jester.
Both performances will be in the Czech language.

Puppeteer Roman Bedřich BauerRoman Bauer is the principal of the BOĎI Jaroměř Puppet Theater. He is a puppeteer, lyricist, composer, multi-instrumentalist, director, sound engineer, lighting technician, and organizer. He was also largely responsible for the restoration of the Bouček Puppet Theater in Jaroměř. He writes the music for most of the performances and usually records it himself. He also occasionally writes fairy tales.
Puppeteer Libuška BauerováLibuška Bauerová is a puppeteer, artist, and lyricist. She currently works in the group BOĎI Jaroměř, led by Roman Bauer. On the home stage in the Bouček Puppet Theater in Jaroměř, she acts as a puppet artist and voices many roles. She writes lyrics to fairy tales as well as fairy tale texts.
Bauerovi Josefov Puppet TheaterRoman Bauer and Libuška Bauerová have formed the Bauerovi Josefov Puppet Theater, which performs classic family marionette theater. They perform shows for children and adults with puppets they create themselves, playing around 150 performances every year. They have performed all over the Czech Republic as well as abroad. They have toured in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and throughout many cities for the fourth time around the United States.
Bouček Puppet TheaterThe Bouček Puppet Theater in Jaroměř was established in 1921. The founder was Rudolf Bouček, whose name the theatre bears. In 1924 the theatre was offered a small unused garden house, which was gradually restored and extended and in 1928 it became the largest permanent puppet theatre in the Czech Republic and maybe in the entire Europe. The group still seeks to maintain the tradition of classical marionette theater performances. The theatre is currently managed by Roman and Libuška Bauer.
