Additional documents and interviews during short-term Schengen visa processing

In conformity with the European Parliament and Council Regulation (ES) No. 810/2009 from 13th July 2009 (the Visa Code) and according to Article 21, paragraph 8 of this Regulation, Consulates or central authorities can request additional documents or carry out interviews in justified cases during the short-term Schengen visa procedure.

The Czech Consulate in Ulaanbaatar can ask applicants for short-term Schengen visas to further submit additional documents or an interview with the applicant can be carried out. This measure is in line with the EU legislation.

The Consulate can request, among others, the following additional documents:

  • bank statement(s) from the invited applicants as well as their hosts for the last 6 months
  • current and up-to-date proof of employment of applicants as well as their hosts
  • copies of residence permits of the applicants' hosts in case they have not been submitted or in case the residence permits have expired
  • details regarding property ownership of the applicants as well as their hosts
  • PAID and NON-REFUNDABLE hotel reservations

The Consulate can also request any other additional documents considered necessary during the visa procedure.

We advise applicants to take this measure into consideration and cooperate with the Consulate.

Thank you.
