Information on the Interview with an Applicant for a Long-Term Residence Permit

In accordance with Section 57(2), Section 169k(1), and Section 169(1) of Act No. 326/1999 Coll., on the Residence of Foreign Nationals in the Territory of the Czech Republic and on Amendments to Certain Acts, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Tokyo may conduct an interview with an applicant when a long-term residence permit application is submitted.
The interview is conducted in the Czech language; however, it may also be conducted in English.
If the applicant does not have an adequate knowledge of either of these languages, they are required to arrange for an interpreter and bear all costs associated with the interpreter’s services.

In exceptional cases, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Tokyo may appoint another person as an interpreter, provided that the person possesses the necessary language qualifications to perform interpreting services and is able to demonstrate them (for example, by presenting a certificate of an internationally recognized language examination at level B2 or higher, a secondary school leaving certificate, or another equivalent document).
A person may not be appointed as an interpreter if there are reasonable grounds to doubt their impartiality due to their relationship to the matter under consideration, the parties to the proceedings, or their representatives.
