From the Czech side the consultations were led by Kateřina Fialková, Director of Multilateral Organizations Department accompanied by Aneta Haimannová and Ondřej Picka, experts from the Office of the Government and Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Sweden represented Magnus Lennartsson, Deputy Director General and Head of Department of Global Agenda, Lennarth Hjelmåker, Head of UN Policy Department, Kajsa Olofsgård, Ambassador for Agenda 2030 and Katharina Fried, Mia Crawford, Karin Snellman, Dite Engell, and Susan Beer all experts from Global Agenda and UN Departments. Jiří Šitler, Ambassador of the Czech Republic and his deputy Jan Buben also attended the meeting.

The Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Develepment was adopted by the UN nearly two years ago and both Czech Republic and Sweden begun to implement its goals. Sweden is regarded as the most advanced in implementing all of 17 Sustainable Development Goals, whereas the Czech Republic is right behind all Nordic countries ranked 5th out of 157 UN memeber states. Being succesful in implementing the Agenda 2030 and in case of Sweden being member of Security Council and in case of the Czech Republic chairing the ECOSOC leads to increased responsibility in pursuing the Agenda 2030 goals which is why the Swedish – Czech consultations were important. Both sides shared the best practices, explained in detail their respective policies and coordinated their future steps in this area.
