Milan Štěch visited Sweden

Milan Štěch, the President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic visited Sweden on April 10 - 11, 2018.

Together with Ambassador Jiří Šitler, the President of the Senate opened an exhibition at the Czech Center, which maps a hundred years of Czechoslovak statehood and reminds key milestones and personalities of our history, such as T. G. Masaryk and E. Beneš.

The President of the Senate, together with his counterpart Urban Ahlin, took part in a commemorative event of 1968 in the Riksdag (Swedish Parliament). Together with the representatives of Slovakia, they remembered the fate of the thousands of Czechoslovaks who, after the invasion of Warsaw troops, found asylum in Sweden.

The events of the Prague Spring were one of the themes of Milan Štěch's audience with King Charles XVI Gustav. They also talked about the economic cooperation of both countries or the future of Europe. The Czech-Swedish cooperation in the security and defense-industrial cooperation field was the subject of discussions at the Ministry of Defense, labor market issues at the Ministry of Labor and the future of Europe after Brexit at the Ministry for EU and Foreign Trade.
