Epoque Quartet in Latvia

On Friday 14, the Prague string quartet Époque Quartet started their Baltic tour.

On Friday 14, the Prague string quartet Époque Quartet started their Baltic tour with a short performance in the National Library of Latvia, an evening concert in the Spikeri Hall in Riga, and on June 16 they continued with a concert in Liepaja.

The representatives of the diplomatic corps, Latvian state cultural institutions, members of Latvia - Czech society, business entities and the cultural community enjoyed a concert at Riga‘s Spikeri Concert Hall.

The guests listened to the pieces Manhattan Island by Mateusz Smoczynski, Jan Kučera's Birth and Sundial, Senor Mouse by Chick Corea, EQ172 by Alexei Aslamasov, Djorin Reinhardt's Minor Swing, Astor Piazzolla's Adios Nonino & Libertango, John Wiliams's Schindler's List, Le Grand Blond Avec Une Chaussure Noir by Vladimir Cosma and Jaco by Pat Metheny performed by David Pokorný (1 violin), Vladimír Klánský (2 violin), Vladimír Kroupa (viola) and Vít Petrášek (cello).

The final piece was a joint performance of Epoque Quartet with a young Latvian accordionist Mihail Olehov, who is going to study at the Jan Deyl Conservatory in Prague this September. Together they played Latvian national song Put vejini (Blow wind). The song was played apart the program and was a nice and emotional surprise at the end of the performance.

Then, the Epoque Quartet continued their tour in Tallinn, Estonia, and in Kaunas, Lithuania.
