On 21-24 November, within the "V4 Film Days" festival, the embassies of Poland, Hungary Czech and Slovak republics have presented the films reminiscing the life behind the Iron Curtain at K-Suns Cinema in Riga.
The Czech-Slovak film Fair Play, the Polish film Everything I Love, the Hungarian film Eldorado and the Czech film Pelíšky were screened during this festival.
The Pelíšky by Czech director Jan Hřebejk (1999) was screened to Latvian public on Thursday, November 22. The screening of the Czech film was greatly successful with the public. More than 120 spectators including the diplomatic corps (i.e. Ambassadors of Slovakia, Hungary, Azerbaijan and Moldova), members of the Latvian-Czech Society, Czech and Latvian students, and members of the Czech and Slovak Army from the Ādazi military base attended the film screening. The cinema hall was completely filled up. The translation of the film and its interpretation into Latvian was made by Mrs. Halina Lapiņa. The film was in Czech with English subtitles and simultaneous translation into Latvian.
The screening of the film was also a reminder of the events of 1968 in Czechoslovakia.
