Vernissage of the Exhibition “Václav Havel: Politics and Conscience”

On November 21, in the European Union House in Riga, H. E. Mr. Miroslav Kosek, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Latvia with a short speech opened the exhibition "Vaclav Havel: Politics and Conscience".

The representatives of the diplomatic corps, the members of Latvian - Czech association, participants of local cultural and public life, as well as all those who came to remember Vaclav Havel were among the guests of the exhibition.

In general, the exhibition "Vaclav Havel: Politics and Conscience " shows Vaclav Havel as a thinker and philosopher. By combining Vaclav Havel’s quotes with photographs of current events from around the world, we have developed a set of pictures which clearly demonstrates the timelessness of Havel's views.

The exhibition was prepared in cooperation with the Czech Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes together with Czech Center and Václav Havel Library.

Texts and quotes were translated into Latvian by Janis Krastiņš.

On November 23, along with the exhibition in the frameworks of V4 Film Week the film "Citizen Havel" will be shown.
