The Exhibition „The Landscape and The People in the Course of Three Millenia“, which will be opened at the Permanent Representation from November 26 to December 31, presents the history, the present time and the future of the largest preserved natural area in Czech Republic.

National park Šumava, alongside it German neighbouring Bavarian Forest National Park, form the largest forest surface in Central Europe often mentioned as The Green Roof of Europe. It is an important „oasis" full of protected wildlife and wild plants. It is proposed for being included into the Natura 2000 network.

Šumava Landscape and particulary its present situation is also the result of long-term coexistence of its inhabitants and nature. It represents a unique cultural heritage in European context. Šumava, considering the historical circumstances and present situation, is a very specific region.

Šumava National Park Administration and the local municipalities now learn to coexist and to cohere the interest of nature protection and regional development. Sustainable development of the large-scale protected areas becomes more and more urgent from long time perspective.
