However, Norges Bank decided to issue a new series of banknotes in line with the latest technological trends. The new series incorporates advanced security features and will continue to minimize banknote counterfeiting in Norway.

An English guide to the new series of Norwegian banknotes has been published by Norges Bank. It also features information on what to do with the old banknotes. The rule of thumb is that both old and new banknotes can be used simultaneously for a period of one year from the date of issuance of the new series.
