Economic and Environmental Implementation Meeting (EEDIM)

The Economic and Environmental Implementation Meeting (EEDIM) took place in Vienna from 16 to 17 October 2017. This year the EEDIM was dedicated to the revision of the environmental and energy commitments of the OSCE participating States.

EEDIM is an annual meeting devoted to the review of commitments of the OSCE pariticpating States within the environmental and economic dimension. This year, the conference focused exclusively on issues related to the environmental and energy commitments. Delegates of the OSCE participating States, representatives of international and non-governmental organizations, as well as members of the OSCE field missions, attended the conference.

The main topics of the EEDIM were: strengthening disaster risk reduction and management at all levels, reviewing the implementation of best practices in the area of water management, raising awareness on environmental challenges and security, strengthening co-operation on energy efficiency and renewable energy, fighting corruption and promoting good governance in the environmental field and opportunities for strengthening the OSCE’s role in support of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. All stakeholders agreed on the importance of deepening international cooperation in environmental field and underlined the role of the OSCE in promoting good environmental governance and raising public awareness about adverse security impacts of climate change.
