About the Permanent Mission
Permanent Mission of the Czech Republic to the UN, OSCE and Other International Organizations in Vienna is an integral part of the wide network of Czech diplomatic missions in the world. It is tasked with representation and promotion of the Czech interests in international organizations and their specialized agencies and bodies in Vienna.
UN
Within the framework of United Nations (UN) bodies and agencies the Permanent Mission deals with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND), Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ), United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Office for Outer Space Affairs (OOSA) and Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS). These agencies operate in the United Nations Office in Vienna (UNOV), which is situated at the Vienna International Centre (VIC). OSCE
Major part of the Mission’s work is dedicated to the activities within the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). Meetings of its bodies take place in the Hofburg Palace in the centre of Vienna, whereas the Secretariat occupies the premises at Wallnerstrasse 6. The OSCE is the continuation of the Conference on Security and Co-operation in Europe that began in Helsinki more than 40 years ago. It is a unique security organization with a complex security concept within its three dimensions: politico-military, economic and environmental and human dimension. OSCE embraces altogether 57 participating States from Europe, North America and Central Asia. It is a forum for political negotiations and decision-making in the fields of early warning, conflict prevention, crisis management and post-conflict rehabilitation, and puts the political will of its participating States into practice through its unique network of field missions and institutions. Other well-known activities of the OSCE are elections and freedom of media monitoring. Find more information about OSCE and its bodies on the website of the Permanent Mission of the Czech Republic.
Other International Organizations
The Permanent Mission represents the Czech Republic in several other international organizations and bodies, among others in International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (PC CTBTO) and international export control regimes, such as the Wassenaar Arrangement (WA), the Zangger Committee or the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG).
The Permanent Mission wishes to advise that it is not dealing either with the relations with the Host Country or consular/visa issues. Please address all your questions and requests to the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Vienna.
