Czech Republic presented its candidacy for the ITU Council for the 2027–2030 term in Geneva

The Czech Republic on 5 May 2026 hosted an informal coffee break for member‑state delegations during the ITU Council session in Geneva, where it presented its renewed candidacy for the ITU Council for the 2027–2030 term.

In her remarks, the Chargé d’affaires of the Permanent Mission of the Czech Republic, G. Boiteux Pilná, recalled more than a century of engagement by the Czech Republic in the ITU and highlighted the country’s long‑standing commitment to contributing to open, inclusive and effective international cooperation in the field of digital technologies. She also outlined the Czech Republic’s main priorities, including support for connectivity, the development of digital skills, and an emphasis on secure and resilient networks — all with a focus on ethics and human rights.

In her subsequent address, the ITU Secretary‑General, Doreen Bogdan-Martin, praised the Czech Republic’s stable and constructive role and its active involvement in the organization’s work.

The Czech Republic is seeking to retain its seat on the ITU Council for the next term 2027–2030.
