World Conference of Speakers of Parliament of 2025

The Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic called in Geneva for international assistance to victims of the Russian aggression against Ukraine.
The Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Mrs. Markéta Pekarová Adamová, participated in the 6th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament and the 15th Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament, high-level meetings of parliamentary leaders from around the world organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Geneva from 27th to 31st July 2025. The central topics were global inter-parliamentary cooperation and the issue of the safety of women and girls in contemporary armed conflicts and wars. In her speech, the Speaker particularly emphasized the strengthening of democratic institutions and also called for the protection of the most vulnerable in Putin's aggressive war against Ukraine. The Speakers adopted a Declaration outlining the key transitions that are needed to advance peace, justice and prosperity, underpinned by a renewed commitment to deepen parliamentary engagement with the UN through a call for stronger and more effective multilateralism.
