Czech humanitarian assistance to help Yemen

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Jiří Kozák announced humanitarian assistance of 1 million dollars for next two years, while participating in the High-Level Pledging Event on the Humanitarian Crisis in Yemen.

Besides the financial contribution to promote resilience of local populations, Deputy Minister Kozák underlined the importance of negotiations with parties in the country to ensure safe humanitarian access and effective humanitarian aid delivery to all citizens. Also, the cooperation with international partners and non-governmental actors must be maintained.

In Yemen, the scale of humanitarian needs remains shocking. Years of protracted conflict, displacement and economic deterioration continue to generate substantial suffering. To seek support of the international community, the Governments of Sweden and Switzerland, together with the United Nations, convened the High-level Pledging Event on 27th February.
