Croatia is joining Schengen zone

The European Union Member State Croatia is joining  Schengen zone on 1st of January 2023.

Croatia will be joining the Schengen zone on 1st of January 2023. This is an important change, from January 1st, 2023 the travellers from Philippines travel to Croatia under the same rules as to any other Schengen zone Member State. From that day the travellers will not need two entries (or multiple entries) Schengen visa to Schengen area if they want to visit Croatia too as part of their travel  to the Schengen zone as there will be no border controls between Slovenia and Croatia or between Croatia and Hungary.

Example - when a tourist from Philippines travel to Czechia, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia and then Czechia again to fly back to the Philippines, he/she is ok to travel with one entry Schengen visa only.

Of course there are still EU Member States that are still not members of Schengen Agreement (they are not part of Schengen zone), namely Romania, Bulgaria, Cyprus and Ireland. And then other non-EU European countries (like Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, North Macedonia, Albania, Kosovo, Ukraine and UK for example). Should a tourist/traveller from the Philippines visit those countries after visiting Schengen area and then after visiting any of those countries travel back to Schengen zone, he/she needs Schengen visa with at least two entries.
