Embassies of the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia organized a joint event to commemorate victims of the Holocaust. 27 January is the International Holocaust Day.

Representatives of the prominent Jewish organizations, ambassadors and distinguished guests in the audience watched lighning of candles and prayed for those who did not survive. Candles were lightened by the Slovak Ambassador Mr Juraj Zervan, Deputy Head of Mission, Izraeli Embassy Ms Talya Lador-Fresher, Ambassador of Poland Ms Barbara Tuge-Erecińska, Holec brothers, Deputy Head of Mission, Hungarian Embassy Ms Klara Breuer, wife of the Czech Ambassador Mrs Jana Zantovska and the Spiro Ark Director Ms Nitza Spiro.

The guests were also invited to see the photographic exhibition The Hell Survivors by Jana Zantovska, wife of the Czech Ambassador. Mrs Zantovska´s pictures present those who had lived in Czechoslovakia before WWII and survived the hell of the concentration camps. Most of them survived as the only members of broader family and found their new homes in Israel.

In 2006, Mrs Zantovska´s exhibition was awarded the main Golden Eye Czech Press Photo 2006 Award and won the spectators´ prize, too. In 2007, she received an award for the best photographic book of the year for a book version of Hell Survivors by the Fotograf magazine.
