Czech diplomats awarded the Diplomat of the Year Awards 2010

On 28 April, 2010 the late Ambassador Jan Winkler was awarded in memoriam a Diplomat of the Year for Europe award together with Miroslav Kolatek, Deputy Head of Mission.
On 28 April, the 2010 Diplomat of the Year Awards took place in the Hyatt Regency Hotel London, hosted by Diplomat magazine. 10 awards were presented to some of the most influential overseas Ambassadors and High Commissioners, as well as other diplomats, based in London. The awards were presented by Lord Digby Jones Kt.
10 awards were presented, in categories such as Diplomat of the Year for Asia, Europe, Afrika, Middle East, Americas, South America, as well as Distinguished Contribution to Diplomacy, Outstanding Contribution to the Consular Corps, Distinguished Contribution by a Junior Diplomat and Deputy Head of Mission of the Year.
The Embassy of the Czech Republic left the evening with two awards – one for Deputy Head of Mission of the Year for Mr Miroslav Kolatek – minister-counsellor and the posthumous award to the previous Ambassador Mr Jan Winkler who tragically died in February of 2009. The current Ambassador Michael Žantovský took over the awards. Ms Alžběta Winklerová, daughter of the late Ambassador, was present, too.
