Boris Nemtsov was one of the leading voices of the Russian liberal opposition and a strong advocate for democratic, open and modern Russia. Throughout his life, Boris Nemtsov fought for democratic values, plural society, rule of law and eradication of corruption. His tragic death, on the eve of the demonstration against the impact of the economic crisis and the conflict in Ukraine, is a loss both for Russia and the whole democratic world.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic calls upon the authorities to investigate this unexpected and unsettling incident and punish the perpetrators of this brutal act immediately.
