Czech Mining Technology Delegation Explores New Opportunities for Cooperation in Indonesia

A business delegation of Czech companies from the mining technology sector visited Indonesia with the goal of strengthening bilateral cooperation and presenting Czech innovations in mining and mineral processing. The mission included meetings at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, participation in the Mining Indonesia trade fair in Jakarta, discussions with representatives of the local mining industry at the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and a field visit to an active mine on the island of Sulawesi. The visit resulted not only in a number of new business contacts but also in valuable insights into the potential application of Czech technologies in Indonesia.

From 14 to 20 September 2025, the Czech mining technology business mission, led by Mr. Daniel Vacek, representative of the Czech Mining Technology Association (Česká dobývací technika), took place in Indonesia. The mission was organized under the framework of the Czech economic diplomacy project PROPED, implemented in cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Czechia. Its aim was to deepen cooperation between Czechia and Indonesia in the mining sector and to identify new opportunities for trade and export of Czech technology solutions.

The delegation’s programme in Indonesia was extensive. The visit began with a meeting at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, which oversees the country’s mining sector. This was followed by participation in Mining Indonesia 2025 in Jakarta – the significant mining technology exhibition in Southeast Asia, bringing together hundreds of exhibitors and thousands of professionals from across the region. One of the Czech participants, Draslovka, also took part in the exhibition independently, presenting its environmentally friendly technologies for ore and metal processing. The mission programme also included a joint meeting with representatives of Indonesia’s mining sector at the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), which plays a key role in supporting the participation of foreign partners in the modernization of Indonesia’s mining industry. The final stage of the mission took place on Sulawesi Island, where company representatives visited an operational mine. Participants were able to observe Indonesian mining operations first-hand, engage directly with local mining engineers, and gain a deeper understanding of the geological and technological conditions that shape mining activities in this part of the country.

The Czech mining industry was represented by Ferrit, Enelex, Noen (through its local partner PT Sari Prima Mekanik), and Draslovka, in cooperation with its local commercialization partner Pure Indonesia.

  • Ferrit, a world leader in suspended monorail transport systems, presented its experience in underground transportation technologies.
  • Enelex showcased its coal quality management systems and advanced thermal imaging solutions for fire protection used in both the mining and energy sectors.
  • Noen highlighted Czech expertise in the design and modernization of open-pit mining equipment.
  • Draslovka presented its Glycine Leaching Technology, an innovative and more sustainable method for metal extraction that offers a transformative alternative to traditional cyanide-based processes.

The mission yielded a number of tangible results. New contacts were established with Indonesian partners, and participants gained valuable insights into the specific needs of the local market. One of the key findings was that Indonesia is planning to expand its underground mining operations in the coming years — an area where Czech companies possess unique know-how in underground machinery, transport systems, and automation. At the same time, participants noted strong competition from Asian manufacturers, who have long-standing positions in the region supported by extensive distribution and service networks.

The successful mission is expected to be followed by a visit of Indonesian mining professionals to Czechia in 2026, when they plan to participate in the upcoming MINE & BUILD 2026 trade fair in Brno, focused on mining and construction technologies.
