Amendment to the Act on the Residence of Foreign Nationals since July 1, 2023

The amendment to the Act on the Residence of Foreign Nationals in the Territory of the Czech Republic, which will come into force on July 1, 2023, effects several changes. The main changes for the applicants of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Islamabad are as follows:
CONSULAR TERRITORIAL COMPETENCE:
The applicant is entitled to submit an application only to the embassy of the State of which applicant:
- is a citizen
- is the holder of the travel document
- is holder of legal long-term or permanent residence and has been residing continuously at least for 2 years in the State´s territory.
INCREASE OF THE ADMINISTRATIVE FEE FOR REQUEST FOR A REVIEW OF SHORT-TERM VISA REFUSAL:
The administrative fee is EUR 80.
EXTRACT OF THE CRIMINAL RECORDS OF THE COUNTRIES
Applicants must present an Extract of the records of the country in which they have stayed overall for more than 6 months in the last 3 years.
LONG-TERM RESIDENCE FOR FAMILY REUNIFICATION
Adult dependent children have been excluded from option to apply for residence permit for family reunification. The Embassy will not accept such an application.
NOTE: All the proceedings, which had commenced before the Amendment of the Act on the Residence of Foreign Nationals in the Territory of the Czech Republic become effective (i.e. until and including June 30, 2023), will be completed in accordance with the previous wording of the Law.
