Lecture for Students and Graduates of Bohemistics at the University of Helsinki

Embassy of the Czech Republic in Helsinki together with the University of Helsinki organized a lecture "Spoken Communication and Methods of its Research” for students and graduates of bohemistics, pedagogues and translators on 23 September 2015. Professor PhD Jana Hoffmannová DSc from the Institute of the Czech Language of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic was as a lecturer and a guest.
The lecture "Spoken Communication and Methods of its Research” described briefly the history of research of the spoken Czech language in the Institute of the Czech Language of the Academy of Sciences. The lecture focused on some of the main topics as style differences of Czech spoken and written texts (e.g. in electronic or media communication) and then particularly on common everyday spoken communication, basic types of dialogues and use of some frequent language means.
The lecture was supported also by both associations of expatriates and friends of Czechia in Finland - Finnish-Czech Society and Bohemia Society.
Prof. PhD Jana Hoffmannová DSc
She studied Czech language and literature – history at the Faculty of Arts of the Charles University in Prague. Since 1983 she has been working in the Institute of the Czech Language of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, nowadays as a leading scientist. Since the beginning of the 90´s she has been also teaching at the University (lectures and seminars for the Institute of Czech Language and Theory of Communication and the Institute of Translation Studies of the Faculty of Arts of the Charles University; several years also teaching culture of written expression at the Faculty of Humanities of the Charles University). She deals mainly with stylistics, text linguistics, dialogue analysis and research on spoken Czech, last but not least also interpretation of literature texts. She is an author of two individual professional monographies and co-author of 13 team publications, besides that she is also a co-author of many school books and study texts for elementary and secondary schools as well as for universities.
