Concert of Štěpán Rak in Helsinki at the occasion of the Czech Presidency of V4

A concert of the famous Czech guitarist and composer Štěpán Rak was organized in the Old Church of Helsinki on Monday 21 September 2015.
The concert in beautiful atmosphere of the Old Church in the centre of Helsinki drew attention of many guests from the diplomatic corps, Czech expatriates and friends of Czech culture as well as Finnish public. The concert programme consisted of the artist´s own pieces but also music of composers from the Visegrad Group countries could be heard.
During the concert tour in Sweden, Denmark and Finland the artist had nine concerts, four of them in Finland. 40 years ago - in September 1975 - he was invited to Finland to take part in the establishment of a guitar department in the Conservatory of Centre Finland in Jyväskylä. He spent five years there.
The final concert in Helsinki was organized by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Finland in cooperation with the Old Church of Helsinki at the occasion of the Czech Presidency of the Visegrad Group (V4). Czech Centre in Stockholm was also a co-organizer of the Nordic tour dedicated to 70th birthday of Štěpán Rak.
