​What are the benefits of investing in Czechia?

On 30 October, the Czech Embassy in Helsinki organized an investment seminar in cooperation with CzechInvest. The investment seminar was designed especially for potential Finnish investors in higher value-added projects in Czechia. In the morning, CzechInvest and the Association for Foreign Investment (AFI) presented their systems of investment incentives, including tax breaks and cash grants for strategic investments. On the Finnish side, Business Finland presented its authentic experience of Finnish companies in Czechia, including the Czech business environment and business relations. Afterwards, selected large Finnish investors who have been operating in Czechia for a long time - Tietoevry, Stora Enso and Alma Media/Alma Career - shared their experiences with the Czech market, customers and employees.

  • CzechInvest – An official Czech government agency for supporting foreign direct investment, developing local businesses, implementing business development programmes and improving the business environment. To date CzechInvest has approved 2,115 projects, created 309,634 new jobs and invested around USD 48,609 million. The main sectors of investment are automotive, advanced engineering and metal processing.
  • Association for Foreign Investment (AFI) – A non-profit organisation with over 30 years of experience, whose mission is to promote Czechia, protect interests of foreign investors, shape and improve the investment environment, and facilitate cooperation.
  • Business Finland – An official Finnish government agency for trade and investment promotion, innovation support and talent attraction. Currently, there are more than 125 Finnish companies on the Czech market, out of which 53 are local daughter companies and 62 Finnish companies operate via sales partners.

  • Tietoevry – A leading ICT company with more than 24,000 experts worldwide specialising in cloud solutions, data and software. As far as relations with Czechia are concerned, in 2004 Tieto acquired the Czech IT company Sikora, which has grown from 30 employees to 2,700 (by 2024). Tietoevry also has a local unit called Organica in Ostrava.
  • Stora Enso – One of the world's largest private forest owners and a leading supplier of renewable products in packaging, biomaterials and timber construction. It is also the largest supplier of sawn timber in Europe. They have 3 legal entities in Czechia with 1,208 employees. At the same time, Stora Enso is making significant efforts to conserve both sawn timber and building solutions to meet the Green Deal targets.
  • Alma Media/Alma Career – Alma Career is part of the Alma Media Group and focuses mainly on media and digital services. Of its total turnover, 37% is generated internationally and 21% in Czechia. In Czechia, the company focuses mainly on job boards (jobs.cz, práce.cz), HR tech, employer branding and recruitment consultancy.

The event concluded with networking lunch and B2B sessions, where participants had an opportunity to learn more details on Czech business environment, form partnerships, make plans for future collaboration and discuss different projects.
